When Shelby reached out to me about booking a large family photoshoot at Smith Rock, I had not idea how special these days would be. She and I chatted for weeks about wardrobe, times and locations for her session. After a little back and forth we finally settled on a session at Smith Rock State Park! Always a favorite for family sessions. However, while I was helping plan Shelbys family photoshoot, I was also helping her then “boyfriend” and sister with a secret plan of their own. A day before their families photo session took place, there would be an added blessing to Shelby and her family during this time in their life.

A family photo session wasn’t the only thing this family was planning…

As Shelby was scheduling her families photoshoot, she had no idea we were planning her surprise engagement photos the day before. Working closely with her sister and her soon to be fiancé, we created the most magical Christmas themed proposal. You could just feel the love and joy radiating from this beautiful group as they celebrated the abundance of blessings present. A newly engaged couple, a new born baby just weeks old and a new addition due only months away. I couldn’t help but get a little teary eyed sharing in their joy during this chilly Smith Rock Extended Family Session.

Smith Rock and other beautiful locations for your family photoshoot

We don’t have to travel to Terrebone, OR in order to get beautiful Central Oregon family photoshoot locations. There are a number of places we can use closer to Bend for any session. Finding the right spot for you and your family is all a part of the process of working together. I’ve even written a previous blog about some of these locations. Of course we are not limited to this list either, it’s just a great starting point. But in the end, anywhere we choose will be the right location as long as you are all together!
