There is something incredibly special about Mt. Bachelor family photos, especially when they include the full heart of a family, dogs included. As a Central Oregon photographer, sessions like this one feel like pure magic. Between the sweeping mountain views, fresh snow, and wide open landscapes, Mt. Bachelor is one of the most breathtaking locations for outdoor family photos in Oregon.

This session was extra meaningful. This newly married couple was visiting from out of town, staying in Sunriver, and wanted to document a new chapter in their lives, one that included their two beloved dogs.
They had recently adopted a second dog, Pippin, from Oregon Dog Rescue, and like so many rescue stories, it felt like he had always belonged with them. Alongside their sweet dog Ginger, who was even the dog of honor at their wedding, their little family felt complete.

When they told me they wanted mountain views, snow, and space to play with their dogs, I knew exactly where to take them. Mt. Bachelor offers some of the most stunning backdrops for mountain family photos in Oregon, especially during the winter months.
The snow added such a fun and playful element to their session. Instead of stiff posing, we leaned into movement by walking through the snow, laughing together, and letting the dogs run and explore.

Pippin, still newer to the family, brought such a sweet and curious energy. Ginger, clearly a seasoned pro, stayed close, soaking up attention and happily joining in every moment.
These are the kinds of sessions that do not feel like posing for photos. They feel like living inside a memory.
One of the reasons families love scheduling Mt Bachelor family photos is the variety and beauty the location offers.

For couples and families who feel most themselves outside, it is the perfect setting for adventure family photography.

And when dogs are part of your family, it becomes even more special. The open landscape allows them to move naturally, which creates more authentic and joyful images.
There is something incredibly meaningful about documenting a growing family, especially when that growth includes a rescue dog.

Pippin had only been with them for about six months, but it was obvious how deeply he was loved. His personality fit so seamlessly into their lives that it truly felt like he had always been part of their story.
It is always a little magical to witness that connection, the way a dog settles into a family and becomes irreplaceable.
Sessions like these are about more than just photos. They are about capturing a specific moment in time, a season of life that will never look exactly the same again.
Including dogs in your photos adds so much personality and life to a session. During these family photos with dogs, the snow became part of the experience in the best way.

There was running, rolling around, and plenty of playful, unscripted moments.
And that is exactly the goal.
Some of the most meaningful images come from the in-between moments. A glance, a laugh, a dog leaning in close, or a burst of energy as they run through the snow.
Those are the memories that feel real.

For sessions like this, wardrobe plays a big role in both comfort and overall look.
For mountain family photos in Oregon, I always recommend:
This couple did such a beautiful job coordinating without matching too perfectly, which helped everything feel effortless and natural against the snowy mountain backdrop.

If you are thinking about scheduling Mt Bachelor family photos with your dogs, a little preparation can go a long way.
Dogs do not need to be perfectly trained. They just need to be part of your story.
And honestly, the imperfect moments often turn into the most memorable images.
What I loved most about this session was not just the location or the light. It was the feeling behind it.

A newly married couple in the honeymoon phase of life. A beautiful growing family that now includes two deeply loved dogs.
From Ginger’s calm, loyal presence to Pippin’s joyful curiosity, every part of this session felt genuine and full of life.
These are the moments worth holding onto.
If you are dreaming of Mt Bachelor family photos, whether you are local or visiting Central Oregon, mountain sessions like this are one of the most meaningful ways to document your story.

Whether you are celebrating a new season of life, a newly adopted dog, or simply want to capture your family in a place you love, these sessions are about more than just photos. They are about connection, experience, and memory.
And if your dogs are part of your family, they are always welcome.
