Rossi Farms is the cutest little farm in northeast Portland, a historic venue that’s still an active farm! This is the perfect little spot tucked away from the busyness of Portland, and Abby and Patrick loved the “spaghetti western” vibes for their early summer wedding this past May. Emotional, joyful, and quirky, I loved every second of documenting Patrick and Abby’s day!
This couple met while they were in high school! They dated for two years after meeting in student government, where Abby asked Patrick to be her date to a school dance. When life began pulling them in different directions, the two separated for about 15 years. Their reunion after all that time proved that they still had a spark, and the rest is history!
When I was first talking to this couple about being their wedding photographer, I asked them, “How did you know that they were the one?” Here’s what they said:
Patrick: “I knew when I was 17. The first time I slow danced with her, I knew she was the one.”
Abby: “Patrick understood me in a way no one else ever had. Our friendship made for a perfect foundation for falling in love.”
Don’t mind me, I’m tearing up over here!❤️
Patrick and Abby decided to get married at Rossi Farms because it had a great blend of indoor and outdoor spaces. In Portland, where the rainy weather can be unpredictable, finding a flexible venue can be a great choice! They also loved the idea of something unusual and fun, and referred to the chapel at Rossi Farms as the “Kill Bill” chapel to themselves.
Patrick and Abby decided to model their wedding’s color palette and decor after this gorgeous farm setting. They went for blue, sage, gray, and brown accents — blue and gray skies, sage in the surrounding foliage, and brown in the dirt roads of the farmland. Abby also loved the idea of having her bridesmaids be comfortable in any shade of blue they liked, which I loved!
The pair also incorporated their love for otters (so cute!) and the band goose. Abby’s 3 amazing kids wrote her messages on the bottom of her wedding shoes before the ceremony, which melted my heart even more!
Everything about the way Patrick and Abby put together their wedding day was so intentional, personal, and special. And that’s what I love about being a wedding photographer here in Oregon! No two celebrations are ever the same, and the uniqueness of the love between every couple I serve absolutely shines through on their wedding day. There’s nothing more special!
I could seriously go on and on about every tiny moment of this celebration. Rossi Farms was an amazing place to spend the day celebrating with Patrick and Abby! The first look between the two as Abby walked down the aisle was unforgettable. And, right before Abby walked down the aisle, her son, Oliver, squeezed her hand and said “How lucky are we?”
Patrick, his mom and his sister all took a shot together before the wedding in honor of their late father/husband. It was tradition that they did this at his sister’s wedding as well. It was super touching and such a special private moment that I felt super humbled to be a part of documenting.
Patrick also presented the kids with sweet gifts. Special necklaces for the girls with their zodiac signs and then Oliver got a sweet hot wheels type ramp! Oliver’s uncle Peter helped him put it together before the wedding. This was just the most incredible, love-filled and family-oriented day.
However you choose to celebrate, you deserve a day as heartfelt, special, and loving as the one Patrick and Abby had at Rossi Farms! I could not have imagined a better celebration for this amazing couple and their family. And, I can’t wait to hear all about your love story, too!
